He was born in Ireland in 1810 d 1873
Sarah Ann Hughes b 1821 in Limehouse, married 29-05-1843 at St.Marys Whitechapel, she died 1878 in Poplar

All the children were born in Limehouse except Joseph who was born in Mile End.

In 1861 and 1871 they were living in Limehouse. In '71 Charles and son Charles were shown as 'Riggers' and John was 'at home'

In 1891 the family lived at 39 Rhodeswell Road Bow.
At the time of Ellen's birth they lived at 100 St.Anns Road Mile End. By the time Ellen married, her address is given as 32 St.Dunstan's Road Mile End.

Charles is discribed as a Tank Maker in several documents. In 1911 is shown to be living in the Mile End Workhouse but his wife was living at 24 StDunstans Road with her son James, shown as a Chair Maker.

It has been difficault to trace the McKenna name since it has been spelt in different ways .At the time of their marriage they are shown as McKcanna. I know that Ellen used the spelling McKenna as her Bible had her name in the front. But when Ellen was born the name was spelt McKanna, where as when Ellen is married the name was registered as McKeanna.

In 1911 James is living with his mother in St. Dunstans Road and worked as a chair maker. Little is known about Jim apart from the fact that he was Deaf, and he lived with his sister and brother-in-law Arthur W J Baldock during the first war.

Tower House
He spend the latter half of his life at Tower House for the Deaf and Dumb Tower Road Erith. The building was demolished in 1962 and replaced by Erith Technical Colledge.
