In 1872 Jane had a son, John, the father is unknown.
In 1881 Robert, Jessie, Jane, Alexander, Edward,William and John were still living in Greddock Cottage. All the children were unmarried.
By 1891 only William and Edward are still at home, unmarried.
John has become a Gamekeeper to the Duke of Bedford. In charge of dogs, returned to Scotland each year for the shooting. After his first marriage he sufered from heart trouble and the Duchess hired a nurse for him, and he subsequently married the nurse.
